Week 31 Changes in our schedule!

ok so just a quick update on our area:

Ciencimino came to church for the 3rd time yesterday! He is getting to know the members better and he enjoys coming to church and also to family nights that we have on Tuesdays. He is still slowly progressing and we are just trying to help him build his faith so were hoping that he´ll just keep progressing and that soon he might have a desire to be baptized.

Me and my comp had a charla with Fabricio last Monday night. He was a reference from a member in our ward and we are going by again tonight to follow-up and also we hope that his wife will be there and that we can start teaching her as well.

So last wednesday we had to watch the worldwide missionary broadcast. I had the opportunity to watch it in english which is great because I can definitely understand it better in that language. I learned quite a bit from it but the biggest thing was that we have a change to our schedule. So from now on we start our P-Day at 8 am instead of 10 am which is a huge blessing and helps us to have more time in the day to do the things that we need to get done. Also we have some changes in our daily schedule that allows us to choose when to do our companionship study and language study. This gives us more flexibility in our schedules to be able to choose as a companionship at what time to do these things to best fit our needs during the day.

Anyway nothing much else happening here in Lezica. Weve been receiving a lot of references from members recently and we are excited to get to start working with the members here in Lezica.

Well hope you all have a good week!

Week 30 Another week here in Lezica!

Ok so this last week we have literally just been walking the streets all day and there is like nobody here in our area because it is summertime and everybody left to the beach or on vacation, etc. So nothing here has really changed, BUT I remembered my camera today, Whooo!

As far as our investigators go- Ciencimino is still slowly progressing but he did come to church yesterday so were really happy about that

We did find a new investigator- Mabel who is the mother of a less active lady in our ward. Weve been going by a lot of members and less actives to find new investigators to teach because door to door contacting hasnt been working for us here.

Also we received quite a few references from members this past week and we talked with a couple of them and scheduled times to pass by for this week so we are hoping to start teaching some new investigators this week.

Well that covers our week. Heres some pictures now:

1. Me about to eat a pack of Buffalo jerky
2. cooking an asado at the Zone Leaders house last Tuesday
3. ZL E Vanderlinden cooking asado

Week 29 Week of changes!

Ok so for those who were wondering why I didn't write yesterday it's because we have changes this week so our pday changed to Tuesday.

So this last week my bishop called me and told me that my comp had to give a talk on Jan 22. I was on an intercambio so I called my comp Elder Sarkady and said "hey guess what?, you're giving a talk in church next Sunday!" to which he replied "haha jokes on you! I am leaving next week and you're gonna have to give that talk!" and then I realized that the whole thing just backfired on me and that I was gonna have to give the talk. But, we just got changes last night and turns out that Sarkady and I are staying together, much to our surprise, and so are the other two missionaries in our house. My comp was kinda bummed that he was staying here another change and then I reminded him that he was gonna have to give the talk on Sunday, after all, haha.

In other news I wanna give a shoutout to my friend Elder Ontiveros who just finished his mission and is going home this week! I also want to give a big shoutout to my brother Jake aka Elder Welker #1 who is turning 21 on Jan 25! Hope you have a good one bro!

So as far as our area goes we just passed by a lot of members and members less actives this week and we received a lot of good references that we are going to pass by this week to hopefully find more people to teach so keep your fingers crossed!

Also I saw a cool video that you guys have probably already seen but I had never seen it before on Lds.org that is about a guy who goes on a cruise but spends the entire cruise inside his room and never leaves cause he had no idea that you could leave but the last day someone told him that all of the food and activities and parties were included with what
he paid for. (I didn't explain that very well, you'll just have to watch it on lds.org) but the way that I interpreted the video is that we can all open the door in other peoples lives (to the gospel of Jesus Christ) so that they can enjoy the blessings of living the gospel. Also while I am on the subject of cruises, my parents and my sister are going on a 5 day cruise that leaves out of Florida. But not just any cruise. A comic con cruise that some cast members from Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and also The Walking Dead will also be going on. So yeah. When my parents told me that I fell to the floor and died so I hope you have fun without me!!!

Hope you all have a good week!

Week 28 wow almost end of changes already

Week 28

Wow!  Almost week of changes already!
ok so today begins our last full week for this change. Next week we will get changes so I might get a new comp but who knows?

So the last week we didnt have too much change at least in our area but we did have some pretty fun things happen the last week. Fun things that I didnt bring my camera to so I dont have pictures for this week 😔.

Well so on wednesday the 4 elders in Colon had to paint their house inside and out because the owners needed them to so me and my comp went over and spent most of the day there helping them paint. We had to move a lot of furniture and closets which in turn meant finding lots of giant cockroaches that were living in the corners where the furniture was. Which as a result meant my zone leader grabbing a lighter and a can of bugspray and lighting the cockroaches on fire (more like spraying fire) which was very amusing to watch coming from one whom hates roaches.

On Friday my comp and I had to head to La Paz so that he could do a baptismal interview for an investigator of the hermanas there. He passed and got baptized that weekend.

Other interesting news: watch out for dog poop that blends in with the grass (or at least for a colorblind person) so that you dont step in it and track it into a members house (I actually did that twice this week, with the same member)
Also dont wear brown pants with a blue suit and a purple tie to church cause thats also what happens to colorblind people.
Also me and my comp got sprayed in the face with water as a guy drove by us and sprayed us with a bottle.

But as far as our area goes I went on an intercambio with one of my ZLs and we found a few future investigators so I am really hoping to find more people to teach.

Well hope you all have a good week!

Week 27 Feliz Año Nuevo

Ok so New Year's was good down here. I dont have any pictures for this week so sorry to those who were expecting a less boring email this week.

So we didnt have any members to celebrate the new year with so we bought chorizo and french fries and watched the fireworks. Also this year begins my "Black Year" which means that this is the only year that I will be on the mission for the entire year and so I will be blacking out every day of the calender for this year.

So its starting to get extremely hot here and every day when we return home at lunchtime I have to change shirts cause my other one is absolutely soaked in sweat. I really want summer to be over already...

But things are good here! We only have like 2 weeks left in this change. Time really goes by fast here.

So as far as the area nothing has really changed. We are still just going door to door trying to find new investigators to teach and what not.

Well I am hoping to start off this year great! I happened to read a talk on lds.org about new years resolutions that I really liked if you guys want to check it out. Its a really old one from 1994 called "Resolutions" but I cant remember who it was by.

Hope you all set some good goals for this year and try to complete them. My #1 goal for this year is that this year just goes by quickly, haha

have a good year!

Week 26 Christmas Conference!

Ok so I just got done skyping with you guys so I am just going to send you guys some pics of the last couple days. Its basically me (re)opening the gifts my parents sent me on xmas day and also outside at midnight on Christmas Eve/very early xmas morning when people were lighting fireworks

on Wednesday we had our mission Xmas Conference and each zone sang a different song and we ate American food so that was exciting.

1. Me and Luciano La Rosa from my last area in Maldonado. He was at our missionary xmas conf because he is Corto Plazo which means that he fills in as a missionary companion when they need to do a special change (but he is tecnically not a missionary yet)
2. Me and Elder Ontiveros at the conference
3. Me and E Sarkady w/ President Eddy and his family
4. Me behind the temple in Montevideo
